flakey guest/flakey cohost syndrome

So I'm not exactly new to the radio game, I am however new to podcasting. I've only been doing this steady for about 6 months now, and I don't know what the benchmarks are for this industry. I heard it takes about 10 to 12 episodes for people to realize you're probably going to be around for awhile.
I'm well in to my 20s on episodes, check!
But my main problem as of today is cohost and guess. I'm sure I'm not the only one but, I had a few guest promise to show only to cancel out at the last minute. Does this bug me? damn straight it does.
It's not the fact that I advertise their appearance on my social networks, then have to explain why they didn't show ( I have no problem doing this by the way, I simply tell the truth and say they cancelled), it's the fact that some of these guys don't even give me the courtesy of a "hollywood no". a hollywood no is when the person you contact (most likely a gatekeeper in hollywood) simply doesn't return your phone calls or is always too busy to get to the phone. They do this as insurance, just in case you actually make it big, they're spared the awkwardness of trying to kiss your ass for dissing you when you were struggling up the ladder. That way, they always have the excuse of saying they never got your calls or messages.

It's when you DON'T get the hollywood no, and get the straight up "no, you're a talentless POS" from a gatekeeper, that you know they have zero faith in your future. Now, I have yet to get the above mentioned said to me, thankfully. But I do think that I'm still seen as a start up and therefore aren't being taken seriously as of yet. That situation can be handled by simply making more episodes and maintaining consistency, getting more and more of a reputation as time goes on. LET'S DO THIS!

another issue however is I seem to be plagued with cohost problems, The ones I like either don't have time to do it or have time conflicts. The one's I don't like seem to have all the time in the world. The main issue I have with bad cohost are the fact that they NEVER seem to get the basic rule of discussion down: IT'S NOT ABOUT YOU, IT'S ABOUT THE LISTENER AND THE TOPIC.
I had this problem majorly with both otaku 2 (eric) and former cohost nick J. both are victims of the
tirade disease. They both like to go on and on and off track about a subject, poor eric even repeats subjects from old shows. there are episodes that will never get aired because of this problem.

am I a professional end all be all of radio and podcasting? NO, but at the same time I don't fell like tolerating stuff like that either. i could easily go back to my shock jock days and railroad certain cohost into getting back on track. but the problem with THAT is outside of this business, we're still good friends. I would hate to lose that behind this industry. So yeah, either I find a good cohost or imma have to learn how to be a damn good solo entertainer.
Btw, omegamark is pretty good so none of the above applies to him.

have a good one
