There's a sorted history behind the maldoul show. It's taken many twist and turns, evolutions and changes. would you believe it was actually a gospel show at one time? no, neither would I. But it did start out as somewhat self help show back in 2007, A psych degree gave me the motivation to make a crack at giving people advice. But I just couldn't ignore my true calling: giving bad advice and pissing people off. Just kidding, about the bad advice anyway. After getting fired from radio at a certain san francisco university, I spent a few thousand on a home studio and gave going out on my own a shot.
I had a rough yet vast knowledge of radio, namely the politics behind it (thanks to internships at Kmel, kksf and Kyld).I learned enough to know that if I was gonna reach the top in radio, it wasn't gonna be working in corporate or even public radio. I wanted to be free from the FCC, around that time sirius was two years strong, But I knew I was NO WHERE NEAR ready for that. So I chugged along on my own, creating 3 hour podcast with bad structure and only a loose connection to the weekly format.
Fast forward 3 years, blogtalkradio is out, but the quality sucks unless you're willing to pay for a better connection, umm no! So I discovered podomatic.com.Yeah you had to pay for that too but you got better service for your money. BTR is good in it's own way too, I wouldn't totally write them off. So I hit podomatic with lionz den radio, a show featuring myself, nick (a guy related to dennis the allstate commercial man) and a girl named case. Show only lasted 5 episodes but during that time we made it to the number 2 bay area comedy slot on podomatic. However, The show wasn't going in the direction I wanted so I made plans for a bigger and better show. This show wouldn't happen over night, I had big plans for it and it would take some time to implement them, so in the meantime I killed lionz den and broadcasted a solo show called fifth of a lion.
While I did 5th of a lion, I was creating the website and building resources for the maldoul show.4 months later, I grabbed my boy eric B and started the first episode of the maldoul show.audio sucked and topics went EVERYWHERE, but it was the first show that panned out the way I had always envisioned. As time went on, I gained the support of sites like stickam and professional shows like lunatic radio and Brickhouse. And now, I'm preparing to evolve to the next level of the game, the next plateau. The show has hit a stride, a point of no return, to change anything or abandon the show at this point would have an adverse effect on my reputation and image. It's not like lionz den radio or the other forgettable shows I've appeared on, this show would actually be missed.
So there you have it, I'll be here as long as you'll have me here. failing that, I'll still be here.shows ebb and flow, peak and valley.it's the cycle of the radio biz.
